What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese name consisting of 2 words Rei and Ki meaning spiritually guided Universal Life Energy which animates us all and is found all around us.

A system of natural healing which was rediscovered in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926), it helps to harmonize body, mind and spirit for yourself or anyone you want to help, and works on humans, animals, plants, as well as situations.

While it is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use it.

The knowledge that an unseen force flows through all living things and is connected directly to quality of health has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times. The existence of this has been verified by kirlian photography, a method pioneered by Semyon Kirlian, a Russian researcher in the 1940's.

Healing involves direct application of Chi for the purpose of strengthening the clients chakras.  Chi is the term used by the Chinese mystics and martial artists for the underlying force the Universe is made of.  Mystics in all cultures have talked about the physical universe being made of an underlying form of something, much as modern physics research is now coming to understand the Universe is made of energy which is subject to (or affected by) thought, going so far as to claim we create our own reality from our thinking and the thoughts we share between each of us every day.

Reiki recovers a greater experience of unity with the divine harmony and our true selves, returning to a state of alignment with our Higher Selves or true way of being.
